The theme for the new work is “naked light.”
Whenever I paint the first sensation I get is that “I have at my command the paint of this planet.”
For my nude paintings I applied this paint firmly, but the paint, which is at the same time light, was a crystallization of sensation and it was in balance or connection with things beyond the painting.
My “Light Paintings” were the result of those paints imploding and turning instantly into silver and then being reborn in loose, drape-like folds. With the new works, they are barely cloaked in the dress of light, instead metamorphosing into “naked light.”
